How does the Presidential School entrance exam work?
A Presidential School is a state specialised school for gifted pupils: Uzbekistan has 14, one per region, tuition is free and admission runs through a single two-stage test.
Admission runs in two stages. Stage one is 30 maths test questions. Stage two is 40 maths questions on critical thinking and problem solving, plus 40 English questions on grammar and reading. Pupils who finish year 4 with top marks apply for year 5; the application and the exam are free.
| Stage · Subject | Questions | Time |

| Stage 1Maths | 30 | 60 min |
| Stage 2Maths — critical thinking and problem solving | 40 | 90 min |
